PROFILE
Sugar is an indie band that uses an elegant mix of rock, jazz and gothic in composing their songs. Vocalist Loki has a strong and deep voice that makes this band stand out among other visual kei bands. Guitarist Sizna's trademark is acting crazily on stage, not only while showing off his incredible guitar skills but also with his amazing stage act. Bassist Koto is the silent and calm member but he's a great bassist who shows great concentration during a show. Drummer Atsuto is a skillful drummer with fine technique and has an air of mystery about him as he often has his face covered in one way or another.

Combined, Sugar is a unique and creative band with a lot of passion for what they do. They are definitely worth checking out!

BIOGRAPHY
Sugar was formed in 2005 by Loki (ex-Vall’na Racill), Sizna, Koto and Atsuto. They had been making music since mid-2004 but they officially started their activities on February 1st, 2005. Their first CD, ridicule/Dry Flower, was given away for free at a concert in February and also in various indie CD shops; it was limited to only 500 copies.

Sugar played numerous concerts around Tokyo in 2005, and on August 9th, they performed at a event called kuro ari to shirozatou to mark the upcoming release of their first maxi-single, mental sketch modified, which was released on August 17th. This single was sold out in no time!

On May 6th, they held a three-man concert with Calmado Qual and The Candy Spooky Theater. These three bands made a tripling single together, Mikkai, where every band had one song each. Mikkai became very popular among Sugar fans and they started getting more and more attention from new fans.

On July 26th, they released their first mini-album, Grave of Mind, and they also began a new tour, called Distance to grave of mind, that same month.

In November 2006, they started a short two-man tour Darker meets Deeper with emmurée, which ended at Takadanobaba AREA on November 10th. They were also joined by Nega and hurts for two concerts. During this tour, Sugar released the coupling single Darker Meets Deeper with emmurée, which featured one original song and one cover by each band; this single was limited to 1000 copies. To end 2006, they continued playing concerts and attending events and on Christmas Eve they were invited to join Kamijo and Kanoma at their Winter Romantic Fes.3days 「X-day」 event.

Early in 2007, they released the single Rotten Words, and a short while later they started their 2nd anniversary tour called blessing for new Cradle. In May they released a DVD, A new cradle, which included footage from their tour earlier that year. In July, Sugar came back with a new tour, this time a two-man tour with Kaya. They also released a new single, Yokusou, on July 7th, which included their first PV ever! Only a few weeks later, the single earned them first place on Oricon's indies chart. For the rest of July, Sugar attended various in-store events and between those they held more concerts.

As of now they have a one-man tour entitled sweet circus, scheduled for September, starting on the 15th. People who attend any of the concerts scheduled on this tour will also be able to get a copy of their new single, sweet circus, which has different CD covers depending on the concert locale.

Fans of Sugar can look forward to many releases in the future because this band doesn't seem to want to stop pleasing their fans!
