PROFILE
Believe In Style!

Indies Oshare kei quartet bis were formerly a Visual Kei band before they decided to change style, moving into Oshare kei with their hard, punky rock sound (they are not sugary-cute oshare, bis are positively 'cool'). They are edgy, as one could note from both their music and amusing CD covers, which for three successive singles featured a string of semi-naked men.

Composition of bis’ music is shared between Shunsuke and Tsukasa, with a contribution from Maru on 'Go..' (Freestyle Rock), while Maru pens all the lyrics with occasional help from Shunsuke.

BIOGRAPHY
bis were formed in mid-2004 when former members of the bands Mei (Maru), Jakura (Seika), and Usagi (tsukasa) came together. They held a first live on the 30th August at Club Citta in Kanagawa, followed swiftly by another appearance at Takadanobaba Area on 15th September.

The famous PSCompany label (responsible for, among others, Miyavi and Kagrra) signed the band and shortly afterwards Shunsuke joined as bassist. bis joined the PSC Tribal Arrival Tour in September and October 2004 and their first mini-album 'Freestyle Rock ~ jinsei wa joujou da' followed shortly afterwards on the 20th October. bis were on their way up.

They continued the latter part of 2004 with a succession of many lives around Japan, introducing more visual kei fans to their edgy brand of VK. 2005 began with bis still hard at work. In five months between March and August, they released three further mini-albums; ’Shu no Genjitsu’, ’Ao no Risou’, and ’kyokutou STRIP’ and squeezed in their first oneman Live at Shibuya O-East on 7th May 2005.

'kyokutou STRIP' was very successful for the band, reaching No.1 on the Oricon Indies Album Chart, but about a week after the release of 'kyokutou STRIP', bis left the PSCompany for reasons that were never stated. They were not alone for long however, their success had been noticed and they were signed promptly by FREE WILL. bis continued a rapid release schedule with their first single on FREE WILL, 'Extra Baka' on the 23rd November 2005. 'Extra Baka' saw further success for bis, itself reaching No.1 on the Oricon Indies Singles Chart.

By the start of 2006, bis were now regularly playing sold out oneman lives, as they released a further two singles, 'Heisei comaneci' and 'NERICHAGI Otome'. At the end of September 2006, they finally announced that they would be releasing their first full album 'Believe in Style' in January 2007. There has been a slight setback however, as release has been postponed for an unspecified time.

Not that this has affected bis' success though. Recently they have been selected as an Official Artist of Glico's 'PosCAM' chewing gum, linked with the free music paper 'Music Up's'. Their song, 'Color of mind...' and corresponding PV have been available for viewing on the Music Up's website since the start of November 2006. Also, since signing with FREE WILL, each single released has been used the Ending Theme to the FujiTV show 'Shimura Ken no Daijoubu da II' and 'START' was used as the Ending Theme for NTV show, 'Miracle Shape'.

Such notable recognition of bis' success and talents can only mean that the future holds further promise and success for this young band.
